Frequently Asked Questions

When can I expect my analysis to be complete?

The standard turnaround time for most analyses are three to five business days. This can be longer dependent on quantity of samples, the scope of the analysis, and the degree of difficulty.

Expedited testing, including same day and 48 hour service is available at increased rates.

How much sample should I provide for a given technique?

In most cases, sending a greater quantity of sample than the minimum required can only be more helpful. An adequate size to emulate is approximately the size of a deck of playing cards. This is highly recommended if the sample will have more than one analytical technique performed. Each analytivcal technique has its own unique requirements though in terms of sample size and some specifics are listed below:

SEM - Approximately 20 mg of sample. For foreign materials or contamination please call or email to speak with a technician.

EDS - Approximately 20 mg of sample. For foreign materials or contamination please call or email to speak with a technician.

FTIR - Approximately 0.5 grams of sample will be sufficient for all macro size work. For foreign materials or contamination please call or email to speak with a technician.

Micro-FTIR - No smaller than approximately 100 μm2 is ideal. For foreign materials or contamination please call or email to speak with a technician.

XRD - No less than 150 mg of sample.

DSC - No less than 100 mg of sample.

TGA - No less than 100 mg of sample.
